Bar manager


Oversee and direct all aspects of the bar operation, ensure customers are receiving their drinks in a reasonable timeframe and to a high standard. Maintain a fully stocked bar, both drinks and recourses. Ensure that health and safety procedures and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (2012) are being followed.


Duties and responsibilities  

  • Hold a duty managers licence and abide by the procedures and laws taught.

  • Order and maintain a stable amount of stock on hand.

  • Create an adequate drinks menu to fit the restaurant, changing seasonly or when needed.

  • Ensure bar is reasonably stocked for each shift.

  • Train and impart knowledge to all employees to ensure high standard of service.

  • Ensure the bar’s opening and closing procedures are being completed by yourself or other bar staff.

  • Deliver quality service and maximise customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.

  • Communicate with staff on any updates; eg, new drinks, running low or out of.

  • Along with the restaurant manager set, follow and manage budgets for the bar.

  • Lead by example, conduct bar procedures to a high standard enthusiastically. 

  • Deal with any employee or customer issues when they arise.

  • Report any employee or customer issues with the general manager if the issue continues to be a problem.

  • Create a positive environment and keep staff morale high.  

  • Conduct any bar training or meetings that may be required.

  • Represent and maintain the restaurants brand.
